Cambridge Goes Live!

Cambridge Goes Live!
Shop Local

At the height of one of the biggest shopping seasons and amidst the racket of the #DowntownProject, the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Board teamed up with six local businesses and Went Live! on Facebook, giving away $1,200 in gift certificates to shoppers that came in the store or restaurant.

As a response to decreased foot traffic and fewer people visiting downtown Cambridge, the groups turned to social media to entice shoppers to come in for a chance to win. The numbers are simple as to why it made sense:  In 2018, the number of Facebook Live broadcasts reached 3.5 billion and the daily watch time for Facebook Live broadcasts quadrupled in a single year. Facebook Live videos produce 6 times as many interactions as traditional videos and get 10 times more comments than regular videos.

The partnership received complimentary reviews. “Keep up the good work – we appreciate the support. This was a wonderful new idea and showed that Economic Development cares about existing chamber of commerce businesses!”

Final survey results from the six participating businesses showed that with the 16 videos that were posted, they received more than 5,900 video views and 68 video shares. And the hits keep rolling in!

The Cambridge Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Board encourage you to continue to #ShopLocal, even though this promotion has ended.
